100 Things

Kim made a challenge for all bloggers to do this, and even though I posted 50 things about me a while ago, I decided to go for it. Because what do I love more than to talk about myself? Pretty much nothing (except for maybe chocolate). I hope you're not sick of me already...
  1. I was born in 1975.
  2. Before I graduated from high school, I had attended four different schools. We moved several times growing up.
  3. I never did enjoy playing with Barbies, but I did like building them elaborate homes.
  4. I live in a house that was built in 1963. It is the exact same house design and was built by the same person that built the house that my husband was born and raised in.
  5. I live in a town that is populated by about 15,000 people.
  6. I enjoy small-town living, but hate the limited selection.
  7. I like to get my way (but who doesn't).
  8. My husband would say that I have strong opinions about pretty much everything.
  9. I don't wear make-up, except on Sundays.
  10. I have a lot of freckles on my face and arms.
  11. I wore braces for nearly three years as a teenager, and even though I never wore my retainers, all of my teeth have remained straight.
  12. I have had two root canals and absolutely dread going to the dentist.
  13. I also don't like going to the doctor.
  14. I think both things make me feel claustrophobic.
  15. To my total dismay, I don't have any artistic ability, even though I can be creative.
  16. My mother-in-law is an artist and jazz musician (she plays the piano).
  17. I play the piano and teach piano lessons.
  18. I love to sing.
  19. My lifelong, secret dream has been to be in a band, and I think it might happen in the next couple of years.
  20. My house is in a constant state of disarray, although I try not to let it get too filthy.
  21. I've decided housekeeping is not my priority. It was making me crazy.
  22. I am the oldest child, and I have one sister and one brother.
  23. I can be bossy and controlling.
  24. I am a total wimp. Like you could totally kick my butt in a fight.
  25. My feelings are easily hurt, but I don't cry easily.
  26. I used to cry all of the time, but as I have gotten older I think I am better able to control my emotions.
  27. I hate most nuts, but I can tolerate peanuts and almonds if they are not in things.
  28. I could eat peanut butter by the spoonful.
  29. Chocolate and peanut butter are even better.
  30. My favorite things to do before I had children were fine dining and movies, but now I go out to eat maybe five times a year (mostly to pizza places) and have not been to a movie in a year and a half.
  31. All of my grandparents are living.
  32. I have not spoken to my maternal grandfather in almost 15 years, but we do exchange cards for holidays and birthdays.
  33. My maternal grandmother is a twin. She came from a family with 14 children and three sets of twins.
  34. I always eat breakfast, usually cereal or oatmeal.
  35. I don't drink anything other than water and an occasional diet pop.
  36. I don't take any vitamins, even though I know that I should.
  37. I feel guilty a lot of the time, and sometimes I don't even know why.
  38. I've had my driver's license restricted for too many tickets in a year.
  39. Sometimes I fantasize about getting in my car, driving away, and never looking back.
  40. Although, I'm sure I'd be back at some point -- I really do love my husband and little boys.
  41. I just get really overwhelmed with it all sometimes.
  42. My favorite cookies are Double-Stuffed Oreos.
  43. That's a little embarrassing to admit.
  44. I worry about how we are going to pay the bills every month.
  45. I don't have a cell phone.
  46. I'm addicted to the Internet and probably would give up every other expense that we have before that one.
  47. I love to read, but I don't do enough of it.
  48. The last book I completely read was Night, by Elie Weisel.
  49. The next book I plan to read is Breathing Lessons, by Ann Tyler. It will have been my fourth time reading it.
  50. I use Q-Tips in my ears after every shower, even though I know you are not supposed to.
  51. I am a very religious person, but it's not something that I talk about very often with others.
  52. My husband does not share my religious beliefs, and I accept that.
  53. Sometimes I go overboard in trying to accept and accomodate others who are different than me.
  54. I do not have a green thumb.
  55. I once kept a ficus tree alive for almost three years, and then it died. I was really sad.
  56. One of my worst fears is having a rodent climb up my leg. I know that is strange, but I saw it happen to someone once and it scared the crap out of me.
  57. I would love to travel, but really don't know when I will ever get the chance.
  58. I think the ocean is hypnotic.
  59. I enjoy going to the beach even if the weather is bad -- which is a lot of the time around here.
  60. Whenever I see a sign that says "Do Not Touch", I usually try to touch whatever it is that I'm not supposed to.
  61. I do not like cartoon characters and have no desire to take my children to Disneyland.
  62. I let my child watch entirely too much television, and I vow to change every day.
  63. For some reason I don't like to wear just one shirt. I will always wear either a tank top or small t-shirt under whatever I'm wearing.
  64. I do this thing with my foot when I am falling asleep, and I just noticed that my son does the same thing. My mom has told me that my dad does it too.
  65. I have my ears pierced, but I rarely wear earrings.
  66. There are several cupboards and drawers in my house that are filled wtih things I need to throw out.
  67. My favorite late-night snack is popcorn (made on the stove) with nutritional yeast on top. Mike makes the best.
  68. I'm proud of my SAT score and wouldn't mind telling you what it was.
  69. I'm not proud of my high school GPA, so don't ask.
  70. I can be very stubborn. I've been known to hold a grudge.
  71. In college I stopped talking to my roommate for almost three months because she made me mad.
  72. Decorated cupcakes make me happy.
  73. I love my birthday and hope I never want people to stop celebrating it with me.
  74. There isn't a vegetable that I don't like.
  75. I don't chew gum, but prefer mints.
  76. I prefer to stay up very late and sleep in very late. Usually I end up staying up very late and then am woken up very early in the morning.
  77. I have never had a bloody nose.
  78. I have large nostrils, I think.
  79. I didn't play any sports in school. I probably would have liked to play basketball, but I knew I wouldn't make the team.
  80. My life is riddled with me not trying for things because I assume I will fail.
  81. I can't imagine that anyone is still reading this list at this point.
  82. My favorite color is periwinkle blue. Actually, I love all shades of blue.
  83. My first job was at Dairy Queen. I made giant ice-cream cones for my friends when they came in. I hated that job because of the uniform.
  84. My second job was working "in the wheat fields" for Oregon State University. My husband often tires of my stories from "in the wheat fields". He thinks I am exaggerating at how hard the work was, but it was hard harvesting wheat in the heat! I worked there for three summers.
  85. If I had to choose a girl I have had a crush on it would be Tracy Chapman. Don't think I'm weird; it's a very platonic crush.
  86. When I was in labor with Charlie, I asked Mike to put my Tracy Chapman CD in my discman for me to listen to. Unfortunately, the case was empty, so I had to listen to Indigo Girls instead.
  87. I very rarely have cash in my wallet. I use my debit card and checks for everything.
  88. When I do have cash, I like to pay with exact change.
  89. I have never worn a bikini.
  90. I eat yogurt every day.
  91. I compulsively check my blog for comments.
  92. I iron my husband's clothes for work, something I swore that I would never do for a man.
  93. I think my husband is one of the smartest people I have ever met.
  94. Sometimes I think I know more than him.
  95. When I'm alone in the car, I don't listen to anything, but just enjoy the silence.
  96. I have given away my child's toys while he has slept because I think he has too many.
  97. I make my own curtains.
  98. I love art and have about 10 original pieces hanging on the walls of my home. If I had money, I would spend a lot of it on art, including sculptures, glass, paintings, photography, etc.
  99. I don't like to use public restrooms, and I always try to flush with my foot.
  100. I have made many promises I haven't kept, but if you ask me to keep a secret, I won't tell a soul.

Amy, I loved reading these and I think they were all different from your list of 50! I had memories flash before my eyes reading this; rodents, Tracy Chapman concert, the Oregon coast with the girls, high school and the driving incident, Oreos...I think I know you pretty well and love you just the way you are! You are always honest in your apprehensions and I always think you're brave to share, I appreciate that.
Kim
P.S. I’d like to know more about this band that you will be starting?

I really really enjoyed reading your list. Except for now I think my list stinks. OH well. I do love your honesty! One of the things that keeps me reading everyday! I think we are similar in a lot of ways. I'm going to ask Kim if she thinks so. (Am I sounding like a crazy lady yet?)

I was totally going to put almost the exact comments about driving away, but knowing I'd come back, but didn't have enough guts to do it. :)

Your list made me laugh out loud, which actually is hard to do. I have to admit, I check your blog regularly because it's so entertaining. Beware, if it's really good I might use it as an example of good writing with my middle school students! Amazing how two people who really don't know each other can have so many similar facts about them. Keep writing! ~Kari

I'm glad to hear Charlie was asleep in less than 5 minutes last night! I have been meaning to ask how that is going! As for kissing Bob, I'm not sure. When you see him in person, you realize how much makeup he has piled on! I would go for a hug though. :)
Of course if I won a car or played plinko I may be more likely to pucker up. LOL
The Office last night: LOVED IT! I have not seen the Britsih version. Do I need to invest in it?

I absolutely loved reading this. I love random posts like this. The main reason I loved it so much is because there WERE several things that I laughed out loud at because I could TOTALLY relate and sometimes I have wondered if there were other people like me out there!! :-) You are amazing, my dear.
