Last night was my final night with Kim, before she heads back to Alabama. This time I ventured down to Corvallis so that we could indulge in my most beloved past time -- eating. We went for pizza at my all-time favorite pizza place (I have eaten A LOT of pizza in my day, and I have never found a place I like more. It's probably the garlic olive oil they brush all over the crust). We shared a medium cheese and a salad (see, we were being slightly healthy) and talked for almost two hours before we headed across the street for dessert. New Morning Bakery is the subject of most of my food fantasies and I had been looking forward to going for months. We stared into the bakery case (as I have done at least 100 times before), for what seemed like aeons, trying to make a decision. Should we get cheesecake, or flourless chocolate cake with whipped cream; maybe chocolate mousse or a nanaimo bar; the cookies are amazing, but so are the cupcakes. Finally we narrowed our choices to two desserts each: Cream-cheese, chocolate cupcake and a peanut butter bar for Kim, and a petit four (almond cake with raspberry filling) and square of German chocolate cake for me. I'm not ashamed to say that we nearly finished everything. By the time we got back to Kim's parent's house, I had a serious case of sugar-induced giggles. While Kim's mom marveled at our ability to consume so much food in one evening, Kim and I just rolled with laughter, and I tried to not wet myself. After much story-telling and a lengthy discussion about The Office's Pam and Jim situation, I headed home. Once there, I checked on the kids and puttered around, as I couldn't get to sleep for several hours because I was so full. Maybe two desserts was a bit much, but, oh my, it was delicious.

I am STARVING right now and I just read your post. I am very jealous to say the least. I am going now to munch on my fist out pure hunger and depravation.-julia
Those deserts look amazing! I"m thinking that when you have the chance to have a girl's night out, calories shouldn't count!! I'm craving something chocolate now! I've been meaning to ask you if you are a faithful 24 watcher?? You mentioned it in your blog the other day. I have been meaning to do a post about how upset I get when my guys die. (Curtis)
I really do know how to spell desserts!
After you left last night my mom said, "I really like Amy, she's fun to be around." I just opened your post (with Jan sitting right here) and we read it and laughed. I'm still full and managed to finish off the pizza for lunch. I loved your recount of our evening right down to your conversation about the office with Jessi. Is that on tonight? So much fun! Maybe just pizza next time? Loved the pictures too!
American Dream is our absolute favorite, too! Schuyler and I always go there on our date nights!
