Dear Mama Nirvana

I thought I would take some time and answer some of the email that has been piling up in my Inbox. Hope you don't mind me sharing.

Dear Mama Nirvana,
You sure seem to complain a lot. Shouldn't someone like you, who has the chance to stay home with her kids every day and who has a husband who supports her in every way be constantly filled with joy and counting her blessings?
Sincerely, A Reader Who Cares

Dear Ms. Cares,
You are absolutely right. I complain a lot. While I am grateful for a husband who has a job that sometimes covers some of our bills, I can't help but long for my career when I am listening to my baby cry for 17 hours out of every day (every day!), and me pulling out my hair trying to figure out why he is crying, and me loading and unloading the dishwasher and then loading and unloading it again. And again. And my absolute lack of adult human contact for days on end. And the house that never looks clean. And the mountains of laundry that I stare at and wonder who's job it is to do (I guess it would be mine). And my total lack of talent of being the kind of mom that I assume most everyone else is. Uh-oh, Ms. Cares, looks like I'm complaining again. While I'm on a roll I think I'll add my annoyance at my current haircut, which never sits right, the lack of decent restaurants in my town, my inability to discover a pair of black pumps that look good on my feet, and George Bush. I think that's all for now.
Sincerely, Mama Nirvana

Dear Mama Nirvana,
Why do you insist on writing down all of the minute details of your day to day life? Why can't you more regularly include pictures for your readers to look at? No one wants to read an extra long post about how hard it is to tweeze your eyebrows.
Bored in Blogville

Dear Bored,
I'm sorry that you find my posts dull. I myself find them dull and have written about it on numerous occasions, which didn't include pictures so you probably wouldn't be interested. I have also previously explained that I am not a photographer and don't take pictures very regularly. I usually have to remind myself about once a week to post pictures of my children, just so my husband and mother will stop complaining. Bored, I have to ask, do you only buy magazines for the pictures, or do you actually read the articles? There are plenty of great photoblogs out there -- go check them out and leave mine alone.
Mama Nirvana

Dear Mama Nirvana,
How do you decide who to include on your blogroll?
Another Mommy Blogger

Dear Mommy,
In one section, Cool Mamas, I include anyone that I know who has put me on their blogroll and that I check in on regularly. I actually know nearly every one of those Mamas in person, except for Kristin and Nicole, who I "met" in very different ways. It's not an exclusive group, so if you want to be added, let me know. I usually want someone to at least comment a couple of times before I'll add you on. You also don't have to be a Mama to be on the list. My Daily Reading section includes blogs that I have read for a while and enjoy. Every once in a while I'll take one off or add a new one. Keep your eye on that section for new additions.
Mama Nirvana

Dear Mama Nirvana,
From looking at your picture you have posted on your front page you look so pretty and put together. What is your secret?
A Bloggy Admirerer

Dear Bloggy,
I have two things to say to you -- Have you ever read anything I have written? and Get your eyes checked! You better believe that any picture of myself that I would dare post on this site was edited to the hilt, so I doubt you would recognize me in person.
Sincerely, Mama Nirvana

You crack me up. I can pretty much agree with everything you "whined" about...which I don't mind the whining, infact keep it up as it makes me smile and laugh and realize I'm not alone!

You crack me up! I can't believe that people would complain to you about what you write. It's not like they're forced to read it. Anyway, I always enjoy reading what you have to say, and I don't need pictures either.

I'm irritated that people write emails that aren't nice. I like your responses. AND I LOVE your blog. And complaining is one of the things that keeps your blog real!

Ha! You totally had me going there. I could hardly beleive the nerve someone must have to say such things...till I saw your label. Good one, you always crack me up! I'll be sad when you're not (pressured into) posting everyday anymore.

People actually write to complain about what you write? What weirdos- I agree with kari, just stop reading.

I, for one, enjoy your blog and writing so no worries.

You're too funny! In fact, I was talking to a good friend back in IL the other day and she said, "Your sister-in-law is hilarious!" It took me more than a few seconds to realize she'd started reading your blog.

Where's my comment? Are you screening what I say now?

Love your answers - so totally honest and Amy-ish. I love reading your past posts too. You don't need the pics when your writing is so descriptive. Thanks for putting me on your blog -makes me feel special :)

Thanks for the clue Heather! Great post Amy- even though I haven't talked to you directly for about four years, (at our ten year high school reunion)I questioned whether those were really written by others:) I as an ADD/ADHD mom love to read about your struggles trying to measure up to perfection. Those of us that deal with this disorder know all about working all day but not seeming to accomplish much. I'm not the only one that appreciates your candidity- judging by the comments from others. We love you!

I'm glad to have been added to the ranks as well. You're so much fun to read and I always miss it if I cant read it. It's great that you're writing each day and it really brightens my day :D

You are too funny. I am so slow because it took me a while to figure it out too.

who are these people? Did you make up these letters? Can we really write Mama nirvana letters? You should start an ann landers column.
