What's Up, Buttercup?

One of the many problems with Facebook, is that I have a hard time keeping track of what I have actually written in the blog. It's easy to get lazy. I mean, if all of you would join Facebook and be my friend (ahem, Kim), then I wouldn't even need to keep this thing up any more. Insert smiley face here.

It's been a crazy week around here. John finally got to start school last Tuesday, and he was bursting with excitement. It was a long summer of indecision for me, trying to decide which school to send him to -- our local elementary down the street with the big class sizes or the charter school 15 minutes away (by car) with a class that would be around 15 students. Despite a couple of last minute loops, that eventually got resolved, I stuck to my guns and enrolled John at Luckiamute Valley Charter School, and felt like I got a pat on the back when I found out our local school's kindergarten numbers were heading over 30. It feels good to make the right decision every once in a while.

John loves school, of course, but he came home after the first day amazed that he had to do so much work. "Work, work, work!", he lamented, but was happy when things seemed a little more relaxed on the second and third day. His teacher is extremely organized and each child is assigned a number to go along with their name. It's hilarious to hear him talking about #5 or number #13, because he has absolutely no idea what their actual name is. I'm choosing to find this hilarious, rather than disturbing.

Saturday was my birthday. We originally had planned to go yurt camping at Loon Lake, but the stress of the following week of me teaching pre-school and also throwing John his first friend birthday party was too much so I decided to cancel and plan a trip to Enchanted Forest for Saturday instead. We had so much fun. We stayed for about five hours and did everything several times, and enjoyed our picnic lunch overlooking Sleeping Beauty's castle. Both Mike and love that place -- it is so nostalgic -- we would have stayed another five hours if the kids weren't falling over from exhaustion.

This week is a busy one and Mike is painting the next two (oops, now three, he just called to tell me he booked one more job) weekends. I am so looking forward to October and its chilly, crunchy days.

I want to see pictures of the cake. I agree, facebook seems to take over, but I've found I am "journaling" less because of it. :(

I think it's a little dangerouse to put a fire alarm so close to little boys backpacks.... cause hey lets be honest, that's pretty tempting to look at everyday ;)
