The Last Day of Summer

The Friday before school started, on one of the many, many 95 + degree days that we have been having around here lately, I begged my friend Becky to pack up her kids and caravan over to the beach with me so our children could play and play, and I would have someone to talk to. She obliged, and we went to Whalen Island for the day.

I know I have said it before, but I love this place. There are no waves, no riptides, no steep drop offs, just lots of beach and shallow water. Actually, the beach got skinnier and skinnier as the tide came in, but Becky and I never had to move our chairs.

My kids LOVE to play with Becky's kids, and we practically had to drag them off the beach when the day was over and it was time to head home.

Unfortunately, I kind of forgot about the sunscreen (it was much cooler at the coast, like around 65), and I got a pretty good sunburn on my face and chest. I had the ugliest sunglasses lines on my face and actually was so embarrassed to go to Wal-Mart the next morning that I refused to take my sunglasses off when we were inside. No photo of that.

Can't wait for next summer when we can do it again. Although, right now I am ready for this hot, hot weather to be over so we can slip into Autumn. I am tired of being so hot and sweaty!

Love these pics of the kids, the best of summer!!! Where is this beach? Looks like it might be south of Neskowin? Beautiful. I would pack up my car and caravan with you ANYTIME. Well maybe not in December.... :)

Send your warm weather my way -- I'm going to be sad and chilly when the rain and cold weather comes. What a wonderful day at the beach!

I'm glad that I'm not the only one wishing for cooler weather even though it JUST got warm, finally!

I think you should have posted a picture of the weird tan line. Otherwise those of us who don't see you every day might think you are a Hawaiian beauty with flowers in your hair 24/7. ;)
